Signing of MOU between Notre Dame and Seychelles

The National Meteorological Services of Seychelles and the Better Life Foundation, a local NGO, are partnering with the University of Notre Dame to conduct the ASIRI: RAWI project, a regional study of weather conditions in the Indian Ocean. The Indian Ocean island nations of Sri Lanka and Singapore have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

Ms. Selma Francis (Executive Secretary for the Better Life Foundation), Mr. Will Agricole (Principal Secretary for the department of Energy and Climate Change of Seychelles), and Dr. Laura Leo (professor at the University of Notre Dame) signed the MOU on behalf of their affiliated institutions on Wednesday, March 4th, 2015 at approximately 11:00 am local time.

Prior to the signing, individuals were invited to attend the morning balloon launching and to observe other weather measurements at Rawinsonde station at the International Airport.

Mr. Selvan Pillay (Director of Meteorology), Mr. Vincent Ameli (Chief Meteorologist), and Gerard Bijoux (Chief Operating Office) of the Seychelles National Meteorological Services are also featured in the photograph.

In addition, Mr.Patrick Conry (Graduate Student, University of Notre Dame), Ben McCall (US Army Research Laboratory), and Mr. Byron Blomquist (NOAA and Notre Dame were attendees to the signing but are not pictured.
